A Brief Introduction of the Association of Moral Improvement
of Republic of China(AMI)

         The establishment of the AMI is to promote and expound the true meaning of Dao. The study of Chinese classics and speeches on Dao are to expound the meaning of Dao with subtle and profound language, to realize Dao into the daily life, to improve morality and to pass into Nirvana.

         The establishment of the AMI should be ascribed all the glory to Master Ruilei Li. He follows Confucius’ teachings - to provide education for all people without discrimination. His two main goals are to promote and expound the meaning of Dao. He has given speeches in lecture centers located all over Taiwan. His speech topics has covered Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism as well as other religious teachings that meet the true meaning of “tha great way”－Dao. In his speeches, there are no prejudiced or biased views of a particular sect, bloc, gang etc. His views are impartial and based on the real meaning of Dao.

         Master Li’s promotion of Dao is never for fames and gains. For decades, he has never changed his belief in honesty and sincerity as the principles of Dao; he has given speeches but never asked for or accepted any fees. He regards the promotion of Dao as his own responsibility. He undertakes his own responsibility for the promotion of Dao, so he certainly does not accept any fees. Over the decades, more and more people have benefited by Master Li’s teachings. In these troublous times, people who follow Master Li’s teachings still keep their simplicity and purity in their nature, which is commendable. Before the founding of AMI, the Wan-guo Dao-De Society has been dedicating itself to the Dao promotion and acquired some accomplishments. Because of the increasing demands of speeches-on-Dao videos and the increasing in workloads, AMI was founded so as to enhance the quality of videos and to make a further promotion of Dao.

         The first meeting of the AMI was held onJanuary 18th, 1998. In the meeting, Master Li was elected as the first board chairman. After completion of Master Li’s term of office, Mr Huang Zhan-xiang was elected as the second board chairman on February 25th, 2001. Since its founding, the AMI published Chinese classics from all times, the Illustration of Dao-De Jing videotaped speeches on Dao-De Jing, Chung-yun, Jin-Gang Jing, Lun-Yu, and other related topics, and made a contribution of NT$1.9 million (about US$64,000) to the victims of 9/21 earthquakein 1999.

         Since January 16th, 1999, the AMI carried out Master Li’s series of broadcast talks on “Life and Death” on TTV (one of major TV station in Taiwan) and gained a positive feedback from the public. The series of broadcast talks was divided into 66 sections and lasted for thirteen months in total. There were no commercials and no appeal for donations during the broadcast talks. The AMI also gave away videotapes of broadcast talks to the public for free, which made quite many records of broadcast talks on the promotion of Dao in Taiwan.

         Starting September 2nd, 2001, a series of TV broadcast talks on Dao De Jing by Master Ruilei Li was carried out on China TV Station, Taiwan. Another series of TV broadcast talks on Lun-Yu by Master Li was carried out on June 16th, 2002. He explained in everyday language the deepest meaning of the two Chinese classic works, which has gained a positive feedback from academic and religious circles. This is the beginning of long periods of TV broadcast talks on the philosophy of Lao-tse and Confucius. To follow the trend of the modern time and to improve the quality of publishing medium, Master Li’s talks have been collected on DVDs and given away to the public for free since July 2002. For the moment, talks on Lun-Yu has been collected on 30 DVDs, talks on 24 special subjects on 35 DVDs, Ten Dharma Realms (Shifajie) on 22 DVDs Diamond Sutra (Jingangjing) on 27 DVDs, Essays on Living Zen on 4 DVDs ,The Zen Teaching of Instantaneous of Awakening(Ducn Wu Ru Dao Yau Men Luen)on 10 DVDs,The Universal Door of Guanshiyin Bodhisattva 10 DVDs,The Sixth Patriarch Dharm Jewel Platform Sutra on 10 DVDs, Zhong-yun(the MiddleWay)on 10 DVDs, and Chi-Chen Shin-Chuan on 10 DVDs, while collections of other talks by Master Li on DVDs have been carried on. Master Li’s talks have a gradually increasing positive impact on society and culture and in people’s lives.

         After six months of work,under the expectation from all sectors of society and thanks to many people contributions,the AMI officially launched its own website of Feb 1st,2004.
