A Brief Introduction of Master Ruilie Li and His Promotion of Dao

ˇ@ˇ@ Master Ruilie Li, whose Taoist appellation is Yu-Zhen (Jade-Real), calls himself Yu-Sou-Weng (Fool-Old-Man). He was born in I-lan, Taiwan in 1921. Master Li, who grew up in a strict family, is sincere and simple in his nature. He is a hard-working and self-disciplined man who treats his parents with filial respect.

The 1940s was perils of the time. Master Li was drafted to fight the battle in China. He saw the stupidity of the war and bewailed the extreme human tragedy. He described the battlefield as a hell. He suddenly realized that good would be rewarded with good, and evil with evil, so that he made up his mind to save the world and the humanity, and to try his best to devote himself to the society.

ˇ@ˇ@For more than four decades, Master Li has given speeches in many places and dedicated himself to the cause of Dao promotion. Traditional Confucian, Taoist and Buddhist thoughts have been the core contents of his speeches. The spirit of Master Liˇ¦s Dao promotion is in line with Buddhist teachings that teach people to help themselves and help others. His promotion of Dao is for the benefits of people and he shows no concern to worldly fames and gains. His deeds are honorable.

ˇ@ˇ@He supports the idea of ˇ§talking about Dao but not about moneyˇ¨. All his speeches on the promotion of Dao are free. He does not accept any fees. He follows Confuciusˇ¦s teachings - to provide education for all people without discrimination. To disregard their backgrounds, all people are welcome to attend his speeches and join the cause of Dao promotion. The spirit of Master Liˇ¦s Dao promotion is pure and simple and can be found in his teachings. He often cites what Fengyi Wang (a Chinese philosopher of the 1930ˇ¦s) said; ˇ§You must learn Dao in a practical way and realize it in your daily life. Dao is to be realized but not to be talked about.ˇ¨ Master Li has done his best to analyze the meaning of Chinese classics and to promote the true meaning of Dao. He does not please the public with claptrap. What he does is all from his heart.

ˇ@ˇ@People from many places are touched by Master Liˇ¦s deeds, so they set up lecture centers. Currently, there are 19 lecture centers in Taiwan. Master Li turns up in each center in turn and gives a speech twice a week. He promotes the traditional values of Dao-De and tries to purify peopleˇ¦s souls. Although Master Li is nearly 83 years old, he is not afraid of hardship but give speeches to people around Taiwan. Whether it is rainy or windy, he never stops.
